Disaster Preparedness and Response

Disasters can strike at any moment, leaving destruction in their wake and leaving communities vulnerable and helpless. AMRDO consider disaster preparedness and response to be a critical part of our mandate and have developed a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Response Strategy to ensure the safety and well-being of communities in our operational areas.

Our Disaster Preparedness and Management program is designed to equip communities with the knowledge and resources needed to respond effectively to natural disasters. With decades of experience and expertise in emergency response, we work to minimize the impact of disasters, which are often accentuated by the effects of climate change.

We are dedicated to ensuring that communities are well-prepared for disasters, which is why we develop contingency plans, collaborate with media, stakeholders, and donors, and engage in advocacy and research to enhance our ability to respond effectively to earthquakes, droughts, floods, and fires. Our early warning system is an essential part of our disaster preparedness and response efforts, providing us with the ability to act quickly and effectively when a disaster strikes.

In the event of a natural disaster, our team responds instantly, evaluating the loss of infrastructure, assets, and livelihood opportunities, distributing relief goods, launching rescue and evacuation operations, providing food and non-food items, emergency tents, and shelter, and beginning the long-term rehabilitation of affected families.

At AMRDO, we believe that it is our responsibility to protect and support the communities we serve, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that they have the resources and support they need to recover from the impact of natural disasters. Through our innovative, modern initiatives, we are working to build a safer, more resilient future for all.
